Small games in France

We spent two weeks in the South of France in July. We were not expecting to have a great deal of gaming time, as we (rightly) anticipated blue skies, blue sea, good restaurants and the lure of lots of places to visit. Also, as we were flying, luggage was limited and so I packed Bohnanza, Lost Cities, the Settlers card game, San Juan, Unexploded Cow, Elchfest and Sea Sim. Discarding the box inserts, these packed into about three of the game boxes and the result was a nice compact set of games.

These all turned out to be ideal for short sessions, for example before going out for a meal or before a late night swim. If we had taken any "big" games, I don't think they would have been played at all.

This choice of games was also ideal for family play and the children got through quite a lot of rounds of two-player Bohnanza and even persuaded us to join in Unexploded Cow too.

I have updated the "Games Played" section on Boardgamegeek, but it is now even more pitifully biased towards short/light games. I think this must be largely down to my job change last September. this has made it even harder to schedule bigger games, sadly.
